Oluwakemi Asefeso: Education is a goldmine of opportunities

Oluwakemi Asefeso is multitalented and also good at multitasking. She is one I would describe as a superwoman, having worn many hats and being on top of her game. Oluwakemi is the CEO of Ck Signatures Ltd., a manufacturer, an entrepreneur, a business coach and consultant, a graphic designer, a certified teacher and an author. Her interests cover entrepreneurship, skills, crafts, graphic design, writing, education, DIY, and crafts. One would wonder how she is able to manage it all.

Rather than be part of the problem, Oluwakemi is obsessed with creating solutions encountered in business. She is passionate about investing in people. She does so by helping visionary ambitious people embrace their gifts, banish fear and use their talents to create work they love. Most importantly, she is a lover of God and the things of God.

Oluwakemi is a family woman despite being so involved with her mission and vision, she is happily married with lovely two children. Omote Ro Dhe caught up with this amazing woman, as she shared more about herself, mission and some wisdom nuggets. Read excerpts below:

You are a superwoman to be wearing many hats as a manufacturer, an entrepreneur, a business coach and consultant, a graphic designer, a certified teacher and an author. Yet you are a family woman. How do you juggle all without burning out?

Amazing! There is no how I juggle all without burning out sometimes. Yes, I do burn out sometimes because wearing all the hats comes with greater responsibility. The only reason why I have not burn out completely is that I have God's help(I can do all things through Christ who strengthen me) and an amazing family(My husband and my mum) who supports me.

How do you relax when you are not working? What are you continuously doing to improve your self-development?

I listen to Christian music, watch Christian movies surf through Facebook feeds and sleep at times.

I improve myself through training, research and constant practice of knowledge acquired.

According to you, a lot of people are stuck in their life and career because they are not walking on purpose or have lost their dreams due to life situations. How can they get out of this rut?

By loving themselves, self-development, building their self-esteem, positive affirmation, positive mindset, embracing their gifts and talents to create work they love, remove fear and achieve their utmost desire to make more impact and more money.

Can you tell us more about the book you authored and the inspiration behind it?
I authored the book; How to start and grow a work from home business.

Quite a number of people dream of owning their own business, being independent and enjoying the reward of unlimited earnings. But not too many are ready to take the bull by the horn. Just like them, your concern might be you don't have enough money, time, experience to start and operate your own business.

"The critical ingredient is getting off your butt and doing something. It’s as simple as that. A lot of people have ideas, but there are few who decide to do something about them now. Not tomorrow. Not next week. But today. The true entrepreneur is a doer, not a dreamer.” –Nolan Bushnell

I insist there is always a way out to start your own business even if you are a stay at home mom or dad, single mom or dad, singles, full time or part-time university or college student. It does not matter your age, background, where you are from, you can start your own profitable business. As a young mom, I knew nothing about starting a business talkless of running one but I started one even with little money ($19/three thousand naira) to be specific.

Trust me when I say starting a business is not a bed of roses, it can be very stressful but rewarding in the end if you will give it your all. This simple guide takes you through the components you need to know on how to start and grow a work from home business. It was written by someone who was in your exact same shoe a couple of years ago. It breaks down difficult concepts into simple, actionable steps you can apply today following my blueprint on how I did mine.

"Starting your own business is like riding a roller coaster. There are highs and lows and every turn you take is another twist. The lows are really low, but the highs can be really high. You have to be strong, keep your stomach tight, and ride along with the roller coaster that you started."--Lindsay Manseau

How to start and grow a work from home business is a book of self-help. It takes you through the journey of how I started and grew my business and also shows a step by step guide on how you too can do the same.

This Is a book for those without extensive knowledge and a layperson who wants to start and grow a work from home business but does not know-how. Through my story, I illustrated how I turn my passion, hobbies, skills and interest into money-making ventures.

What you don't know can be a huge setback or roadblock in your business. You may even make costly yet avoidable mistakes or errors which can cause you to lose a huge amount of money if care is not taken. Staying informed with knowledge and tips from those who were once at the stage where you find yourself now will help you to avoid pitfalls.

Even if you've never started a business before, digesting every information in this book can provide you with what you need to know about how to kick start and grow your own business.

Are you excited to start a business? If yes, congratulations! You are on the right path, a remarkable journey that will change your life for good.

"Any time is a good time to start a company.” –Ron Conway

The inspiration behind the book is to help people who are interested in starting and growing a business know that, they can start right from the comfort of their home with little or no capital, avoid costly mistakes that can ruin their business, make an impact and also gain financial freedom through my wealth of experience in business.

What keeps you going on days you lack motivation?

Prayer and songs of worship.

How has your education, background and entrepreneurial journey shaped you into the woman you have become? What is your mantra?

My background taught me integrity, hard work, diligence, to be prayerful and have a personal relationship with God.

My education has really given me opportunities I might not have had access to. It has also exposed me to the real world out there by building my competence, confidence and clarity in life. Truly, education is a goldmine.

My entrepreneurial journey has taught me to see the positive/bright sides of things which enables me to profer solutions to problems encountered and as far as my mind can imagine/conceive something, I can achieve it.

My mantra: God first, every other thing follows. I am beautiful, unique and wonderfully made. As far as my mind can imagine/conceive something, I can achieve it.

As a learned professional, what is your take on education especially for girls? Can you list 3 necessary skills every girl/woman in today's world should strive to have?
Every girl should be given same opportunity as a boy to access education irrespective of background, culture, religion and status.

If you educate a girl/woman, you have educated a nation which helps to build great families, communities and a nation.

Skills I will recommend for girls/women are:
Communication and interpersonal skill.
Reading and writing skills.
Creative thinking andproblem solving skills.
Vocational skills.
Digital skills.

As a yoghurt freak, I was drawn to you the moment I realised you also produce it. What makes your own flavour different from others?

What makes CKS Foods Yoghurt different from others is, it's natural, creamy, thick, fresh, no addictives, the taste and packaging.

Who are some of the women in the bible that you look up to and why?
Queen Esther
She loves her people.
She is humble.
She is prayerful.
She is God-fearing.
She is full of wisdom.
She didn't forget her source(God) in even in the midst of problem and affluence.

Dorcas.
She is a cheerful giver.
She has a good heart.
She lifts others up.

Deborah
She is a warrior.
She protected her nation.
She stood up for a just course.
She is brave.
She achieved fulfilled her purpose and set a name for herself that many generations will be proud of.

What advice do you have for young girls/ women pursuing purpose?

My advice is they should put God first in all they do by having a personal relationship with Him and trust Him to hold their hands in the pursuit of purpose.

They should also keep developing themselves, be upright, brave, not be afraid of failures(It is part of the journey that leads them to greater heights), follow the due process(no cutting of corners), imbibe hard work, make integrity their watchword, be diligent, courageous and also get relevant skills in line with their purpose

I leave them with this, "as far as their mind can imagine/conceive it, they can achieve it".

See you at the top.
