In a chat, Azeezat opened up about her profession, the challenges she faced in her career, role models, philosophy and more. She also gave a word of advice to younger girls confused about their purpose. Read the excerpts below:

What attracted you to the field of healthcare infrastructure and information technology, and how have these areas complement each other in your career?

I grew up to understand that living life is living healthily. This resulted from my experience at the hospital when my grandmother was unwell, I wasn't happy seeing her and others on the suck bed and not able to jump on her like I would have. I later realised that it's inky when people are well holistically that they can thrive.

Can you share a challenging moment in your career journey and how you navigated it to continue driving positive change and innovation?

I started working in public health with a major focus on nutrition and food security, however with the world getting immersed in technology, I decided to also look into how technology can be used to enhance my work. It was challenging initially to build these changes in my organisation then, but I gradually educated other colleagues, especially my supervisor and made them see the advantages of technology, especially automation. This innovation brought me into spaces I never thought could be for me as at then and I have continuously improved myself since then.

Can you list some women who have influenced you into the woman you have become and what endeared you to them?

1. My mother

My mother was a teacher and I watched her from my childhood till now. How she aggressively walked her way from a grade 2 teacher to a school head by continuously improving herself in her education and career while also managing the home front. Her resilience, boldness, and tenacity kept letting me know that I could do better and also spread the word to more people and create a ripple motivational effect around the world.

2. Michelle Obama

This woman's leadership style inspires me daily! Working holistically with people to ensure they live healthy and thrive in all ramifications.

3. Oprah Winfrey

Her comitment to the cause she believed in, and the strategic approach to ensuring her projects did not just close but close remarkably well is what I live by.

As the Lead Instructor at The Project Management Academy by Doubled H Consulting, what do you find most rewarding about helping professionals close their skills gaps?

Before I started The Project Management Academy, I was actively working with people to improve their health outcomes with a focus on primary and secondary foods. However, I realised that many people have their root causes emanating from the financial inadequacy resulting from low-income spinning for many years due to skill gaps.

Since this is a major aspect of secondary foods in the holistic health journey, I decided to found this academy where I can help professionals close their skills gap in project management and support them in landing well-paid jobs. The most rewarding part of this is that my overall endeavour translates back into supporting families to live healthily and thrive majorly because they can afford their basic health supplies, food, shelter, vacation, etc.

If you could have any superpower to help you in your work, what would it be and why?

This will be the power to place everyone in their dream place; career, business, location, etc.

In your opinion, what are the vital skills every woman should have in this digital age?

Critical thinking

Communication

Collaboration

Emotional intelligence

Time management

Computer literacy

Success is relative. What does it mean to you?

My success means I am seeing people around me successful. I am someone who doesn't want to grow alone, I evaluate my success by counting the lives I can put smiles on their faces.

What advice do you have for younger girls pursuing purpose?

Focus! After these are gotten, all other advice that I don't want to dwell on here. The one thing that will make them joyful is to concentrate on their paths and avoid distractions. Every step has a meaning in the journeys of our lives, retrospective analysis will demonstrate to you why each of those things happened to you and you'll be grateful in the end. Don't quit!
